SP2 Crashed HP comp?

Ok, lets start from the beginning.
Oh, about 3 weeks ago I decided it would be a good idea to download SP2 for
my computer, a year old HP.
During the installation, the computer decides it doesn't want to finish
installing the SP2, and gives me a blank black screen. Naturally, I
restarted. When the comp. started back up, it reconfigured the prior
settings, and then I uninstalled the SP2. Every couple of days I would get
that black screen again, but restarting it was no biggie. A week later, as
soon as I'd start up Windows, I immediately get a screen that says "Windows
is sorry for the inconvenience", then gives me the options to start in safe
mode, safe mode with networking, safe with command prompt, last good known
config., or normally. No matter what I choose, these will not work. It just
goes into this cycle of trying to load, then giving me the screen again.
So, after doing some research, I got into the boot box by pressing esc.
while the comp. was trying to load. I then loaded from the XP CD I have,
attempting to do a repair install. However, my computer isn't giving me an
option to do a repair install. So I tried the recovery console, but whenever
I put in the "COPY F:\i386\ntldr C:" prompt, it gives me the BSOD and says
"BAD_POOL_HEADER". At least I finally know what the BSOD is telling me,
rather than rebooting over and over, but what can be the problem here??
Argh!!!
