sp2 causing major slow boot ups

I just recently installed Windows XP service pack 2 and I
think there could be a incompatibility issue with
software that is already installed on the computer. Boot
up times are extremely long. Is is there any method to
figuring out where the problem lies?

The new SP2 is bundled with lot many features such as firewall protection,
COM/DCOM, popup blocker etc. There are other built-in features also but after
installing SP2 the system becomes sluggish. This is because there are
services running in the background used by above mentioned features which
makes the system slow. Now your computer is much more secure than what it was
earlier and makes the optimal use of the system resource.
