When I installed XP SP2 last night I was no longer able to
browse the internet, ping another computer, or even get a
DHCP IP address. I thought at first that it was the
firewall even though DHCP is not port specific so I turned
it completely off. Still no progress. So I went through
a couple of other last ditch manuvers (ie reboot computer,
re install ethernet interface). So then I held my breath
and backed out SP2 and low and behold I was able to surf
again. But, I still wouldn't mind getting SP2 working.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ben

Open the TCP/IP properties of the connection, select Advanced, Options
tab, TCP/IP filtering properties, see if the filtering is Enabled and
set to Permit Only; if so change to Permit All.
