SP2 and Search Engines

Service Pack 2 has recently been installed on this computer. Now we are
having problems connecting to Yahoo and Google and their search engines. Not
all search engines are affected, for instance Netscape is okay. However, all
Yahoo pages are inaccessible as are all Google pages. This includes anything
that uses Google search engines. The only other change made to this computer
has been the addition of digital camera software. That software has been
removed and the problem remains. System Restore was attempted, but the
result was that we were told the system could not be restored to the time
before the installation of SP2. A conspiracy-minded individual would begin
to think that Microsoft is attempting to force people to use their search
engines and web-site by having the computer somehow cut off access to these
other web-sites. I don't suppose that would be possible (and besides, I am
reading in the newsgroups that other people seem to be using Yahoo fine), but
I am running out of optional trains of thought. Is there anyone out there
with any other possibilities about what might be causing this? We rely on
Yahoo for our communication with loved ones and such and this is tremendously
inconvenient.
