SP2, and Norton AntiVirus

I have just installed XP SP2 and the Security center is reporting that
Norton AntiVirus is installed but its status is unknown. But NortonAV is
current and not due to expire till next year.

Question is: do I have a choice now of using EITHER SP2 security features OR
NortonAV, and if so, where can I find an objective and rational discussion
as to what option is best?

If I can have both, then how do I get rid of this warning? This is not clear
to me at all.
Thanks

Hi:go to "Control Panel" then dble click "Security
Center" on the virus protection tab click recommendations
and put a check mark beside "I have an anti-virus
program.......etc. then OK.

You still need a third party anti-virus program like
nortons. If you have a third party firewall then you can
disable the microsoft firewall. You can also disable the
nag messages about anti-virus and firewall software.

You do all these things in the new Security Center which
is accessed from the control panel.

If you are running NAV 2004, just run LiveUpdate and it will download the
VMI patch that will make it compatible with the New Windows Security Center.
Windows SP2 does NOT have antivirus protection (It DOES have Data Execution
Protection, but only with an AMD 64 processor), so you will need to have an
antivirus program installed. The "Enhanced Virus Protection" only works
with an AMD64 processor. If you right click on the "My Computer" Icon on
your desktop, then click on the "Advanced" tab, then click on the "Settings"
tab, and then click on the Data Execution Prevention" tab, it will be
disabled for any but an AMD64 processor. If you have ANY other type of
processor, then the limited protection that DEP and EVP provide will not be
available.
