Installed SP2 and could no longer connect to internet
through my router. Only way I could make it work again was
to use System restore to get rid of SP2. I turned off (or
at least thats what the system indicated)the Microsoft
Firewall as I already have one, but never did get internet
connection (IE, Mail, Chat, no nothing)to work. Could talk
to my router (using IE) though, so at least some local
network I.P. protocol communication was available. Any
suggestions other than swith to Linux?

First thing I'd try is to uninstall the third party firewall,
then try again.

If that doesn't cut it, have a look at
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm for a list of possible
causes.
