Thanks David!

It seems that the folks and Canon don't talk to each
other. I have been on to Canon UK Helpline for the last
week to fix this problem with my MPC 200.

They wrote back to me and I quote:
'We have just become aware of the conflict between
Service Pack 2 and some of our multifunctional products.
We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, however,
we are currently researching the issue and do not have a
permanent fix... you may need to contact Microsoft!'
