SP1 UPDATES VS SP2 INSTALL PROMPTS

Hello

I am going to wait awhile to download/install the SP2 -- hopefully to give a
chance for Microsoft to work out the glitches.
I am wondering if Microsoft is still posting NEW/CRITICAL updates for the
SP1, or have they stopped completely?
When I go to windows update to see re: SP1, the ONLY posting is for the SP2
install.
Have they "turned out the lights and locked the doors" on any updates for SP1?

----Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.

Amber:
Chances are if you have updated regularly you have the
latest SP1 updates. The last being July 31, 2004. To
see if there are any other go to windows update, if you
are using version 5, there should be the box for the SP2
update, on the right of that box is a scroll bar, scroll
down to the the bottom and there should be a section
for "Review and install other updates" click on the
review bar on the right side. Windows will scan you
system and alert you to any other updates available. So
far mine has shown no updates available.
Goo Luck.

You forgot to tell her to click on the custom install
option when update version 5 opens. But the other steps
are right. Also she can click on her installation
history to see the which updates are installed on her
system.

Hi,

SP2 is SP1 and then some (actually, alot more!), as SP2 is cumulative. To get any updates released after SP2, you will need SP2 to get them. If you are totally up to date with SP1, wait a while, and see if anything arises to a fix (if there is going to be one). As long as you take care of your PC (i.e. up to date Anti-Virus, a good firewall), you should be OK.

Thank you for your PROMPT help. I wil try that and see. I have kept
updated on the SP1's updates, so I should be okay with that.
Also, thanks for not belittling me .... the replies that some people send
people are really rude.
If they aren't going to answer helpfully, or just post snide remarks, I
don't know why they find enjoyment of even taking the time to reply
Again, thanks for your help.

Never feel intimidated to ask for help here or on any
other newsgroup. You will find that newsgroups are like
any other community, the vast majority are good decent
folks who are more than happy to help. But unfortunately
there are a few jerks. Thank the good ones and igore the
bad.
