SP1 crashes

I am trying to install Vista on a new PC with a MSI P45 NEO
motherboard and an ASUS Radeon EAH4850 graphics card.

I have had several installs that have failed, usually with BitDefender
antivirus. I have now done a clean install with no additional software
and only the drivers that did not install automatically (LAN, graphics
and Intel).

However I still note that Internet Explorer occasionally crashes. For
instance if I search from the msn.com start page for “test vista” I
get a link (probably because I am in Holland) to
http://www.computable.nl/artikel/ic...est-sp1-maakt-vista-stabieler-en-sneller.html.

That link crashes Internet Explorer, but the cached link doesn’t.

Is this okay and should I continue installing, or is there some
problem with my PC. Could it be hardware? I have done memory and HD
tests and found nothing. Another possible cause of the previous woes
could be that I have large D drive full of data from my previous
machine. The "owner" was of course some unknown registry key. Could
that have caused problems when installing e.g. BitDefender?

I'm confused. Subject is SP1 Crashes. Your description seems to indicate
that you have successfully installed Vista (and SP1?), and now have
occasional issues with IE while using it? So, when you ask if you should
"continue installing", are you referring to additional applications? It also
sounds like your IE issue is associated with a particular URL for which you
provide a link? Does it ever crash otherwise?

If your issue really is IE, I suggest you post to

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There is no legit test page for vista SP1.
What are you going to test???????
You get Vista SP1 from MS via download or on disk, install it; finito.

Nothing. It was just an example of a page that crashed. It happens
repeatedly, e.g. whenever I try to download the latest version of
paint.net. I can go to the paint.net page, but an attempt to download
crashes IE.

I had major hassles before -when using a prefilled second HD in my
machine, I suspect that Windows got confused by the unknown owner.

SO the title of the web page in this case is irrelevent, just that it
crashes IER.
