SP in emulator

I have read on this ng that I shouldn't try to install the service pack into
the emulator - doesn't that than provide us with different results between
the emulator and the actual device?
 
Not if you install it on the device as well. Remember that VS will not
update the target with older files if it detects that the target has a newer
installation.

I'm not sure I follow your reply.

Are you saying I should install the current SP in the emulator too? I
thought I had heard different. Never understood why though.

If I should install it on the emulator, can you point me to some
instructions for doing so? I'm reading, but not finding much.

Right, and that helps, but I'm looking at SP3 (maybe I should be sticking
with SP2?) and there is only a redistributable. I'm not finding a developer
version of the sp.
 
There's only the redist. There are no API changes (AFAIK) so you don't need
to update anything from a design-time perspective.
