SP-2 causes system crash

I have a Dell Dimension 8200. Every time I try to install SP-2 the system
crashes. The only unusual software or hardware I have is a Pinnacle DV200
video card.

Now I tried to install Roxio 8.05 and lost my CD-ROM and R/W drives.
Uninstalled Roxio and still can't use the drives. Roxios says I must have
SP-2 installed. Except every time I try to install I crash.

What do I do?

Thanks for any help, at this point it will probably be cheaper in terms of
my time to buy a new computer.
