SoundMax integrated card and WinXPSP1a

Sorry for the cross-group post, but I figured this could fall into either
category.

I did a clean install of WinXP slipstreamed with SP1a. In Device Manager
the sound card is "installed and working correctly"
In the Sounds and Audio Devices applet in the Control Panel, it states "No
Audio Device" found
I've installed 3 different drivers for the SoundMax card and WinXP, all with
the same results.

I checked out Q328435 and this didnt resolve the issue.

Any/all help is appreciated

Did you disable integrated sound on the Motherboard in the Bios IF you
have it.?
