Soundblaster Live 5.1

I have just installed the Soundblaster Live 5.1 card, and all the install wizards went fine and completed ok. Still, I'm not getting any sound from any of the sockets on the card

Does anyone know what settings, either on the card setup software or in XP somewhere, that I have to change or set up to get output from the new card

I haven't even begun to try input from a mic or an instrument yet!!

Hi Ian

Does it appear to play (but no sound) if you bring up something in Media Player or does it give an error

If it does not give an error, and your speakers are digital perhaps try the following

Click on start/all programs/accessories/entertainment/volume control
Click on otions and make sure Advanced Controls has a check mark beside it
On the Main volume slider click on the button that says Advanced
You should see a checkbox there that says" Enable digital output"

Check this box and test your sound

Cheers Ron, but there's no button for Enable Digital Output in that menu. I guess it appears toplay - there's no error messages or anything - the old sound chip still outputs sound through the usual speaker port, but theres nothing at all from the new card.
