On Quicken I am not getting any of the sounds which are programmed into the
application. On outlook Express on the incoming mail I get an anemic little
beep. I have done all the obvious things. All the settings are correct. My
Logitech keyboard went bad so I went back to the original dell keyboard. I
like my sounds. Any suggestions?

By "anemic little beep", are you referring to a beep coming from a
speaker inside the computer case ? And not through your proper
computer speakers ? The computer case sometimes has a small speaker,
which emits the "PC beep", and it typically gets used by the
BIOS at startup. That is separate from the computer speakers.

It could be, that Windows no longer knows about your sound subsystem.

What does Device Manager show for sounds ? Does the named sound
device correspond to what you know of the sound hardware inside
the computer (onboard motherboard sound, like an AC97 codec, or
a separate PCI sound card, like a Sound Blaster) ? Does Device
Manager indicate a problem with it ?

To find a driver for you, someone would need to know the make
and model number of computer, or alternately, the make and
model of motherboard (for home built machines), or if a
separate sound card is being used, what its make and model
is. Or you can go to the manufacturer's web site and find
the driver available for download there.
