Update the drivers for your soundcard, using ones designed for XP. Get
the drivers from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if onboard video; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

If you are unsure what soundcard you have, use the free Everest Home
system inventory program:

Malke

A few things:

1) Update all drivers to XP versions, including motherboard chipset drivers
and sound card

2) Remove sound card drivers from Device Manager and shutdown your PC.
Then, open the casee and re-seat the sound card. Close the case and reboot.
Re-install XP sound card drivers.

3) If mouse is a corded unit, route the cable away from the speakers.
