Sound Speed

I'm having trouble slowing down the speed of all the sound media on my
computer. I noticed that when I play songs that I've downloaded, they all
sound like the Chipmunks are singing the songs. Is there a way to change the
settings back to normal so that I can listen to the audio media at a normal
level? Appreciate any feedback.

Look at your System Tray near the System Clock at Taskbar. If there is Sound
Mixer or Sound Effects program is running then double-click on it. If it is
not then look it in Control Panel. Open the program and check if there is a
option something like "Voice Cancellation" or "Key". If it is checked then
uncheck this option and play a sound file.

If that doesn't solve the problem the kindly let us know about your OS and
Sound Card.

Hope this help, let us know!

Hi Michelle.

What is the media player that you are having this problem with. Do you
have any other media players installed and does the same problem happen
with them?

Thanks for responding. I've tried your suggestion. The Sound Effects program
that I have is Realtek AC97 Audio and I tried the voice cancellation option;
it didn't work. Maybe I should be a little clearer about a few things that
I've noticed is happening as well. My whole system appears to have sped up
as well. Connections that usually take about 10-15 seconds, now take about 5
seconds. Every single sound or action that is taken on my computer seems to
sound much faster. I played pinball just to see what would happen and
everything action looked like it was in fast forward. At first I thought
somebody changed the opening sound for when you are logged on to the
computer, but then I realized that it was the same sound only about 5x
faster. I've tried changing the speed on my music player to see if that
would help, but it only changed the tempo of the song, not the actual sound.
So I know that it is a system problem, I just don't know where it occurring
or how to change it back to normal.

I'm using WMP 11. I did have Real Player for a while but deinstalled it
because I was having difficulty transferring and playing music in my LimeWire
program. Even in my LimeWire program, music plays at the same tempo but it
just sounds like the Chipmunks are singing. My system seems to be operating
much faster as well. When I boot up my sytem, the first screen that I
usually see lasts for about 5-10 seconds. Now it shows for about 2-3 and
then its gone. The Windows logo with the running bars run faster as well.
The speed of my system is much faster than it used to be. I don't know where
to began!
