sound problem

Philip Leduc

Caracteristics:
homebuild PC, Intel DG965RY motherboard with integrated audio, Intel Core 2
Duo E6400 processor, GeForce 7100 GS / 128MB DDR2 / SLI / PCI Express / DVI
/ VGA / TV Out / Video Card

Assembled it a couple of weeks ago, audio worked fine, put it on a kvm
switch together with a real oldie that I use for file sharing with the other
machines in the house.
There was a problem last week with a old logitech webcam, that I replaced
with a new Communicate STX because when I plugged it, I got an error message
that the hardware was not recognized if it recognized it before.
Used it last friday doing skype calling, everything worked fine.

Today I have very distorted audio out sounds like somebody slowly talking,
as well on internet radio as when throwing in a DVD, as well as with the
windows startup and closedown sound, the other pc's audio through the kvm
still works fine, cables seem to be connected fine.
1) Where do I start looking?
2) In worse case can I put in another sound card, even if the motherboard
contains one so I do not have to replace the whole motherboard if it would
be broken?

Thanks for your help, a beginner builder,

Philip

get rid of the logi drivers and software

if it recognized it before.

remove sound software from add/remove -remove the drivers- remove any
instances of sound from the device manager..reboot
windows will reload the drivers.

contains one so I do not have to replace the whole motherboard if it would
be broken?

you can after you disable the audio chip from bios/cmos
