Sound problem

I was playing with the speed and volume in sound recorder
when I lost all sound. Checking devices in
troubleshooting shows sounds being recorded and played
back but nothing comes out. I checked the speakers, and
they work on another system. Did I change some setting
to make all sound disappear? The mute all is not on.
What else could I have done?
