sound probelm

i just finished a video using my old digital camera. its a music video with a
piece of conversation between me and my wife at the beginning. i used the
microphone from the camera to capture the converstaion and then used an mp3
for the music later on.
whenever i tried to save the film onto my computer and then play it back on
the windows media player the sound and video jumps ONLY when the conversation
takes place causing me to believe that it is the sound problem from the
digital camera.
when i checked on what setting my camera was on it said 'PAL' and not 'NTSC'
does this make a difference?
i have tried copying the conversation audio onto a narration track using the
narration tool and the same thing happens when i play the finished film on
WMP.
is there any way i can change the quality of the conversation audio so that
it doesnt mess up the film when i play it back.
the bit rate for the audio track is 32 kbps. sample rate: 8khz ...if this is
any help.

i hope i have explained this well enough. i have been tearing my hair out
with this.

at the moment the only option i can think of is to re-do the conversation
with a narraration over the top. like a re-dub.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
