Sound on laptops

I have a strange problem with a web site I developed using FrontPage 2002. I am using .asf sound files and they all play without a problem on any desktop I use to view the site. However, when I use my laptop I get very few of the sounds playing. When I go to listen to the sound file using the Media Player 9 it tells me the file is corrupted but I know its not as I can play it over the network from my desktop using exactly the same Media Player. I don't get an error message on the pages where my laptop won't play the sound; it just doesn't play the sound. Any ideas as to what could be the fix would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have reinstalled the Media Player several times but nothing changes. I have also been able to duplicate this problem on my friends laptop. They are both running XP Pro and will only load some of the asf files but the desktops will play them all without any problem. Very puzzling.
