sound issues with a multi-boot system setup

Hi everyone, i have a pentium 4 2.4ghz with 256 megs of ram, i have recently installed windows 98 and windows Xp on my system, boot OS work great only problem is i have sound on windows 98 and no sound on windows Xp even though all the sound drivers and all are installed, is there a setting or something i'm missing can anyone help is it a flaw that sound won't work in both verions of windows someone help please, please email me at (e-mail address removed)
 
i also would like to add that the motherboard i have is Pchips M922 series with the sound card built on

Hi,

Please check in control panel if the sound is enabled. To do so follo
the steps given below.

1. CLick 'Start' go to 'Control panel'
2. Open 'Sound and Audio devices'
3. Under the 'Volume' tab you will see 'Place an icon on task bar'
4. Check this option and set the volume bars to high.
5. Check if everything in 'Speaker Volume' and 'Advanced' is al
right.
