Sound Issue

No changes were made to the OS or hardware, but when I unplugged my speakers
from the card, then re-attached, the sound stopped playing. Here are the
facts:

1. The speakers work on another computer, and power is always on, and I
tried another set of speakers
2. The sound card, an Intel AC'97 onboard, is loaded and is listed as
functional
3. I check services, and Windows Audio is on
4. I tried another working sound card, same result.

The hardware is functioning, as I can hit the play sound button in "Sounds",
and it plays, but nothing is transmitted to the speakers.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Gary.

Please check the other newsgroup where you posted this. There is a response
there.

Next time, instead of "multi-posting" to multiple newsgroups, please
cross-post. That is, put all the newsgroup names into the Newsgroups box of
a single message. That way, it will show up in all those groups, but when I
read it in one, it will be marked "Read" for me in all of them and I won't
read the same question over and over. The payoff for you is that all the
responses will appear in a single coherent thread in each of the NGs and you
won't have to check them all to see all the responses. Also, an incorrect
or incomplete answer in one NG can be corrected or expanded by readers in
another NG.
