Sound is Echoing

I recently had my computer in the shop and they reformatted it. When I got
it back it was fine but one problem. All the sound I play comes out with
this weird echo or muffled sound. I am not an expert at computers. I have
read one post like this but, their solution was to do a system restore. That
does not help in my case. Any suggesstions? It is really annoying.

Do you have a microphone connected? Perhaps built into the monitor?

Mute it.

No Microphone. I disabled it. That is the first thing I thought of. Any
other ideas?
