Sound Echos

I have my computer system set up to play CDs, DVDs, TV,
etc. through my surround sound system. No matter what
settings I adjust...I can not get away from substantial
echo/reverb when playing through. Doesn't seem to matter
what player I use either.

If different players all have the same effect, than it
must be either the speakers or your sound card, right?
Rightclick the sound icon, bottom righthand corner of
monitor, click Adjust Audio Properties, under "speaker
settings " click Advanced. Under Speaker Setup, click
your speaker system > Apply > OK. If the "echo" sound
does not disappear, go to the website for your speaker
system and it may have updated WinXP drivers for your
speaker system or check for new drivers for your sound
card. You can also check the below website under "S" and
scroll down to "Sound Troubleshooters":
