Sound Distortion

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my sound
problems. Basically the sound on my PC gets very
distorted and crackly. I can get round it by turning my
main system volume way down almost to minimum and my
speakers up, but obviously I would rather cure it.

My sound card is a SoundMAX Digital Audio.
Eventually I will upgrade to an Audigy 2 to take
advantage of my Creative 6.1 speakers, but would be very
gratefull for any help.

Hi Martin,

Could you expand on when the crackling occurs?
Does the crackling happen even when the computer is idle, or is it when any
sound is playing and the computer is in use or idle, or only when music is
playing, or when music is playing and you're moving the mouse when in
Internet Explorer, etc.

Hi,

I am having the same problem with Soundmax digital audio.
When I test sound with Directx utilities I get the same
skipping/distortion when testing "Microsoft Sythesizer" on
the music page. The other choices work fine.

I hope there is help for us both!
