I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and had to replace the hard drive. After I did,
and loaded xp, I would get a message saying my sound card wasn't recognized.
How do I fix this problem

This seems an anomaly because ISTR Dell Dimensions all have
sound-on-board (built into the motherboard.) If you added a
separate sound card, you need (1) to disable sound on board
in BIOS, (2) to instal manufacturer's drivers for that card.

Did you load the Dell drivers???
How did you load XP??
Was it from the original CD's that came with the Dell??
