See if your s/c mfg. has an updated driver.
I reciently installed a game and their was also no sound
but all other sounds on the system were fine.turned out
to be the drivers.

If sound card is onboard then where do I get an updated
driver from? The maker of the motherboard?

Yes, download the System Information Tool Aida32. You can find out what
onboard sound the MB has and links to drivers.
It's a free download, get the Enterprise version.
