Sound card not working

D

Dan

I have jsut installed Win XP pro, and I cannot get the
sound card to work. When I remove the device form device
manager, and restart the computer, XP will detect new
hardware, but cannot identify it. I can install it
manually, but it doesn't produce any sound. My sound card
is a SB PCI 128 card, and the drivers sould be built into
windows. I have tried downloading the updated drivers
from the creative website, but when I try to execute the
file, all I get is a popup that says "information" with
an OK button -- no text. I have also tried following all
the directions in the troubleshooter utility, but it only
says that it cannot solve the problem! Hopefully someone
here can help.

Dan, I'm using an SB Live Value without any problems. Did you try a
different PCI slot? If your motherboard has
integrated sound did you disable it in the Bios?
