Sound and Live TV problems

- Sound does not work for TV, DVD, or recordings. Nor in Windows Media
player. All works on XP which is on dual-boot C: drive. When I open up the
sound controller in control panel and test sound under speakers
properties>Advanced I hear the sound fine through the LCD speakers and
through the digital output. When I try to test the Windows sound themes
(Asterisk, Critical Stop, etc) I hear nothing.

- Separate sound problem. There is a loud static sound coming from Creatix
source (believe it to be modem but system thinks it is a recording device).
Static eliminates when I mute it in the control panel settings; but re-occurs
every re-start.

- Live TV freezes on first frame. Seems to record correctly, though no sound
output as above.

HARDWARE

Medion MD8083
Intel Premium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
VISTA 32-bit Ultimate
RAM 512 MB (low I know)
C-Media AC97 Audio Device (driver 5.12.1.49)
Hauppauge NOVA-DT Dual DVB-T Tuner (+IR) (driver 4.3.25080.0)
RADEON 9800 XT (driver 7.14.10.830)

All drivers updated and rebooted.

Re-installed Hauppauge drivers and software with no change.

Any more info required? Help appreciated.

Regards.

For info.

Solution was to re-install original sound card drivers. The windows update
for the driver had messed it up, even though it still worked with XP. As I
read elsewhere, never allow Windows Update to update your own hardware
drivers.
