SOS.....Transfering 2003 pst file to 2007 outlook

T

TP

My company's laptop (with 2003 office suite) crashed on my last day of
employement with my company, and so I bought a new personal laptop with 2007
office suite. My employer was kind enough to provide me with a CD containing
the pst file on the crash computer. Data on the CD was pulled from the
company's microsoft exchange server. I copied and pasted the pst file from
the cd to my new computer, but 2007 Outlook would not open it. When I
attempt to import or open this pst file, i keep receiving the message "this
file is not a personal folders file". I check this file in window explorer,
and see that it is clearly a pst file. The read-only box under properties is
not checked. I have also tried to repair the pst file, but get the error
message that the data I try to repair is not a personal folders file. I am
desperately need to access this information so that I can reachout to my
contacts to search for a new job. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated.

Try copying from cd to your Documents folder. In explorer turn off the read
only flag, then within Outlook open this pst

If that failed I'm afraid it would appear that either the origonal method of
copying or the burning software used was at fault, in creating the cd.

You could I guess try one of the pst recovery apps available from a google
search, most I believe have a try before you buy option - remember to work
only on the copy.
