I have a very large database in excel 97. I am using
headings on all of the columns. I am attempting to sort
by the first column. I am going to Data-sort and checking
on header rows and then the specific header row to be
sorted in ascending order.

Problem--the sort is incomplete only part of the data is
being sorted correctly. How do I correct this or work
around this?

thanks

Sylvia - does it help if you select the complete block of data you want
sorted first?

What you may have here is a cell formatting
inconsistancy. Ensure that the column you select to sort
by is all numeric or all alpha FORMATTED.

I know that I have used the =upper() formula on a numbers
column accidentally once and it refused to sort these
correctly.

Hope I've helped.
