Sorting columns with the "grey arrows"

Yes, I am new to Excel. What are the grey arrows called at the top o
each column, below the column label, and how do I get them there?
want the user to be able to click on the grey arrow and have a dro
down box appear with a list of names in it (which coincide with name
in the column) and have the column sorted by whatever name is selecte
from the drop down arrow.

Hi ac11,

You have Autofilter switched on when you can see the arrows. To switc
Autofilter on (or off) from the menubar at the top of the screen clic
on Data / Filter / Autofilter.
