Sort database

I have a large database with about 4 million records, but only 7 fields per
record. Can an access database be sorted? A query takes too long to use as a
sorting method. I get errors if I try to create new index fields.

Thanks,

If you are talking about sorting a table, you can use the
AZ(down) and ZA(down) buttons, but queries are designed
for organizing and sorting records, and calculating
values.

A 4-million row table is pretty big, but well within Access'
capabilities. Sorting will only be efficient if the field you're
sorting on is indexed, however!

What errors are you getting? What indexes do you currently have on the
table? Use View... Indexes in table design mode to see.
