Sony Vaio Will Not Turn On

We downloaded the new anti-spyware from Microsoft on
Saturday. Yesterday morning (Monday), the computer would
not turn on. When I pressed the power button to turn it
on, it would boot for a second then give me a black screen
with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Nothing
could be done from that point. Anyone have similar
experiences or suggestions?

Do you regularly have a boot disk? If not, maybe the
program tweaked the registry settings.

Sounds more like a hard disk crash if you don't even get a post screen.

Try the boot floppy disk approach and see what you can find out - you may
need to put the hard disk in another machine as a slave drive to check it
out.
