Yes, he is.
1) Changing the preinstalled operating system usually voids a warranty.
2) You need Pro if your office uses a domain
3) A retail version of WinXP may not contain all needed drivers to support
the hardware in the Viao machine. Unless you can find them downloadable from
Vaio, you may have trouble getting the system to work correctly.
I would suggest you contact Sony about the availability of a customized
upgrade CD for the system.
