Sonic MyDVD and Roxio ECD Creator 6 Platinum

I would like to know if anyone has had experience with
having Sonic MyDVD Version 5 on the same PC as Roxio Easy
CD Creator 6 Platinum.

Here's my problem. Last year my Compaq Presario came with
Sonic MyDVD 3.5 Basic and Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic
preinstalled. Recently I have upgraded both products to
MyDVD 5 (even more recently 5.2.2) and Roxio ECD Creator 6
platinum (Version 6.2 is available now to registered
users). Following the installation of both products, I
found that the burn button of MyDVD was grayed out and
unusable. Through email support to Sonic I found that
there were some issues and ended up uninstalling Roxio.
Once this was done, MyDVD burn button was fine. To keep
the CD write capability I reinstalled Roxio Version 5
Basic and found that MyDVD still worked OK.

I have emailed Roxio but there has been no response and as
I said before, Sonic has confirmed some compatibility
issues, but no specifics yet as to fixes or if the two
programs just flat out won't work together.

Has anyone had experience with this, or heard of
compatibility problems? Do you know of any solutions?

Thanks

I have the same problem as yours. It must be to do with
MyDVD 5.2.2 and Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator 6.2
software interaction.

The fact is that after installing MyDVD, I re-installed
the Roxio as suggested in Sonic's 'Knowledge Base'
article. After that the large RED button was greyed out
in MyDVD software.

One more thing, under MyDVD's File Menu / Preferences
dialogue box, there is the 'Burn DVD' tab. In that tab
the last option for 'DISK FINISHING' is missing. Both
Transcoding and the Audio Options are there but, not the
Disk Finishing Option!.

A repair from the Control Panel but it did not fix it.

To test, I purchased the Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 software
and the VS7 has no problem in recognising the Sony DVD
and writing to it, unlike Sonic's MyDVD 5.2.2!

I am still waiting Sonic to respond to my e-mail with a
solution. It has only been a couple of weeks and
Sonic.com are too busy and cannot respond to their
customers' problems! They like to sell more incompatible
software .

Thanks

same problem here. i uninstalled the portion of sonic that
allows direct writing to the burner. sonic dla or
something like that. forget what it was and don't want to
remember.it lets the burner behave as a hard drive.roxio
also wants to do the same thing and win xp also and seeing
as win xp native burning feature is roxio, guess who wins?
good luck.
