Song duration displayed incorrectly.

I recently downloaded a mp3, with a duration of 7 min.

When i play it in wmp the duration displayed is 1 min but the complete song
is played. File Explorer also displays 1 min.

But when i play the same mp3 in winamp, winamp displays 7 min.

How to solve this?

Yep - my bad.

The way to fix it is to get a correctly formatted MP3 file. I suspect
something is wrong with this particular file and its identifying
information.

I take it you have other MP3 files.. Those are all displaying properly
everywhere?

If this is the only song file that WMP shows the wrong playing time for
and yet WMP plays the entire file I just wouldn't worry about it. If you
are still concerned, don't use WMP, just use WinAmp.

Don't sweat the small stuff!

Hi,

to get the correct answer to your problem :

It's most likely, that this MP3 file is encoded either with some strange,
non-standard MP3 Encoder or with VBR ( Variable Bit Rate ), to achieve
better quality while keeping the file size small. Some programs, incl.
Windows is not up to this task and only can display the time correctly when
the file is encoded with CBR ( Constant Bit Rate ).

Try using dBpoweramp to convert or re-convert your MP3's at
www.dbpoweramp.com . This program is using LAME as an encoder, which is
basically standard and gives you perfect results.

Why?
I know many with music collections rivaling/topping that - it doesn't rule
their lives - just one of many hobbies that relaxes and entertains them.

Thanks for your reply, I haven't had time to convert the mp3.
I will do in the next days.
I will keep you informed.

BTW Shenan, I happens with a few of them. But the majority is displaying
correctly.
