Something Really Weird...

I did a clean install about a month ago and I religiously scan for viruses
but everything's started running slow lately--loadup, switching between,
internet access and saving programs, etc. Today while online, there was a
power outage. I have a powerstrip, so no biggie but when I logged back on to
check out the system, all was well except that quite a few desktop icons were
duplicated. I removed these to the Recycle Bin. I then went to the Control
Panel only to find duplicate icons for "Add Hardware," "Add/Remove Programs,"
"Java," "Quick Time," "Security Center," & "User Accounts." I've tried
various System Restore points, and a triple-scan for viruses. NADA. Does
anyone know how to correct this problem?! H-E-L-P ASAP!

ok i've the weirdest problem..
recently my profile was corrupted. i've 4-5 profiles on my computer and only
mine was corrupted. Now within my profile which was corrupted there are a few
temporary profiles which are created i think after every time i log on to my
corrupted profile. One of the temporary profiles has all my picture folders
which I dont know how it got there. When I open the picture folder, I dont
see any pictures.
I can only access temporary profile by logging on to one of the actual
profiles on teh computer.
Please help me. I need those pictures.
Thank you.
Desperately Waiting.

You can try connecting your HDD to other computer and read the files
from it, if you don't use some kind of encrypted file system.
