something is hogging my dial up connection

Using dialup my double computer icon in the lower right
hand tray is showing constantly on(lighted up) and response
really slows down online.

Is there a way to find out WHAT is the traffic that is
slowing my computer down?

Tried pulling up the status but it only shows that
something is being received all the time, just not what it is.

Have run AdAware, updated virus and scanned drives, and use
Zonealarm firewall.
