Some users hang during login after upgrading to Active Directory

I was running a mix Win2k professional/WinNT domain with
NT domain controllers. My corperate guy came down and
upgraded my DC's to Win2k server and implemented Active
directory. By and large everything works well, but...
Some users now hang when they login to workstations
running Win2k. Other uses can login just fine on the same
box. The accounts for both sets of users are setup the
same. All accounts were migrated from the old NT PDC.
I've tried deleting and recreating user accts and the user
still hangs. I finally found out I can get users logged
in without hanging, if I delete the login script entry via
Active Directory Users and Computers -> Users -> User
name -> Properties -> Profile Tab -> Logon Script. I want
to use login scripts.

Also, if I bring the box and set it up on my admin subnet,
recofig the IPs, etc; the user can login just fine. I put
the box back on it's original subnet and the user hangs
during the login. I don't have any security policies
setup for either users, computers, groups, etc that would
seem to cause the problem.

I've been working this for 4 weeks and can't nail the
cause down. Corporate has been less than helpful ANY
advice or suggestions will be greatly appricated

Do you see any errors in workstations event log ? If you think that login
script is the culprit, then maybe examine that loginscript step-by-step to
see where it hangs your logon process. What if you delete user profile on
that workstation and retry logon ?

Matjaz,

Good point about checking the workstation logs. I will do
that. I have checked the Domain Controller logs but found
no errors. IRT deleting the user profile etc... I've
done that and the effected users still have the same
problem. I've even deleted the user from Active Directory
and then recreated the account AND still have the same
problem. IRT to the script, I think I may have to try
running them (Yes, there are more than one) like you
suggested. I haven't done that because there are many
other users with the same scripts who do not have any
trouble logging on.
Thank you and please continue to offer any
suggestions/ideas you may have.
