Some problems with login

I cant get my computer to start with the login screen.
Yes I have changed the parameters in the user
administration.

I can't start addremove programs either. Could there be a
security problem??

Do you mean the log-in screen never shows up, or you can't access your
User account from the log-in screen?

The log in screen never shows up even if I change the
parameters on the user accounts screen!

Are you saying that you have automatic log-in and you WANT the log-in
(or welcome) screen to show?
