some lines appear on screen whenever i open word 2003

I was creating lines and arrows just for fun, on Word 2003. These lines
appear whenever I open Word, on document1.

I have tried unchecking the 'drawing' box, in tools-> options.
I have tried deleting the lines.

But they still appear on print preview and on printouts.

What do I do to get rid of these lines?

You may have a variant of the "nonblank Normal template" problem. See
