Some folders and apps don't open?

Hi,

Recently I've been unable to access any links to My Documents, My Network
Places, Control Panel, My Computer, My Pictures, Printers & Faxes, etc from
the default start menu as well as My Computer from the Desktop. I've also
tried to access these directories and apps by using Start > Run > C: with no
luck.

Basically when I click to try and open any of these areas, nothing happens.
I've looked at the Properties Location and it appears to be correct, so it
doesn't seem to be a shortcut issue.

I can however, when using Start > Run >, access and open INDIVIDUAL FILES
within My Documents, but cannot get any of the FOLDERS to open.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Liz

Hi Liz,

When you have these problems, did you reboot to see if it would correct
itself after the reboot?

Did you run an Anti-Virus Scan as well as Anti-Spyware Scan?

Hi thecreator,

Rebooting the machine doesn't help. I have done an anti-virus scan which was
clean and the anti-spyware seemed to be clean as well.

I've also installed all the latest updates from Windows update. Have you
seen this happen before?

Hmm...I don't think this is the issue, but I cannot be certain if this would
fix my issue. I can't get Windows Explorer to open at all, so the symptoms
I'm experiening are diffferent than what was in the KB.

Yes, there is a My Documents older on the Desktop and no it does not open.

Yes, the links are their on the Start Menu, they just do nothing when you
click on them.

I'm not at the computer right now to see what the registery looks like, per
the instructions in the KB you reference. But I will check it to make sure
it's not corrupt.
