-- Message: I recently had my PC "cleaned", and have lost my Solitaire games
etc. They are not in the system at all !,
can I download them off microsoft, or do I have to buy the games somewhere?
any suggestions please!
thanks,
I tried the answer from Paul Smith ...until, it says to put in CD with SP3
(which I don't have), is there anything else I can try?

It sounds like whoever "cleaned" your system actually damaged it.
Perhaps you should go back to them and insist they replace those system
applications without additional charge.

It's difficult to tell what Paul Smith recommended without your inquiry
either describing or quoting his article/post. Was it a procedure
including unchecking the applications in the control panel's Add/Remove
Programs applet and subsequently running that applet again checking the
applications the second time?

Have you searched your hard drive for the actual executable files
(sol.exe, spider.exe, winmine.exe etc) with settings to show AND search
for hidden and system files?

Do you have a Windows XP installation or upgrade disk for an earlier
Windows XP service pack level (no SP, SP1 or SP2)? If so, do you have
access to a CD burner and some blank CD-Rs? Those items may, combined
with some slipstreaming software available on the web, allow you to make
a Windows XP SP3 disk .
