Software to schedule Windows shutdown?

I'm looking for a program which will, at a scheduled time, shutdown ALL
running programs and exit from windows and shut the machine down regardless
of which applications are running.

I've had software to do this before but they all seemed to get hung up at
one time or another and I'd often come in in the morning and find a pop-up
dialog box asking if I was sure I wanted to close some app or other, or
warning that I'd lose unsaved info, and the computer still running.

I need something which is ruthless and will kill (as in forced shutdown) any
programs that don't shut down normally.

I'm running Windoze ME, BTW.

Maybe "Shutdown" is your friend. Site and tool are German only :-(
But it's a one-file-wonder ...

Shutdown Utility has a function "Force action if a program is blocking".

and take a look at Kana Reminder.

It allows you to Shutdown, Reboot, Logoff either conditionally, or
unconditionally.
