any software available to keep a log of CPU and Mem usages when using the
Windows Task Manager?

There is the performance MMC snap-in, but its user interface seems to have
been locked in a 13 year timewarp (but you could say that for most of Windows
NT!)

perfmon.exe

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Error Reporting -> Choose Programs
-> Do not report errors for these programs:

Acrobat.exe
waol.exe
