Software REstore

GOod evening. I have recently reloaded XP onto my machine. Not a full
format of the hard drive and reloading everything. I still have a lot of the
software on my machine under program file folder but they are gone from the
programs menu and I am not sure how to reload everything. I am missing a
couple of CD's so I am wondering if anyone knows of any 3rd party software
that can bring software back after a reload. Thanks for all your help. This
site is always helpfull.

I'm sorry, but there is no magic software that will bring back your
programs. You will need to get the installation media and install them
again properly. The easiest and most sensible thing to do - since you refer
to some missing CD's you probably have an OEM box like HP, Compaq, etc. -
is to contact the OEM and get replacement restore disks. Either that, or go
to the store and buy what you need.

This newsgroup (replicated worldwide on various servers) does have tons of
useful advice.
Most of which can be searched using Google Groups.

Unfortunately - what it sounds like you did was a clean install (or possibly
a parallel install.)

The DLL/other shared files and registry entries needed for most Windows
applications to run are not going to exist in your *new* install. The only
way to create them now is to install each application from its associated
installation media.
