I have xp home edition, and I was wondering how hard it
is to upgrade to XP Professional. I need all the programs
offered on that system.
Thanks
Alex

Upgrading from Windows XP Home 2 Windows XP Pro is very easy. All you do is
pop the disc in and select Upgrade Install. All of your installed programs
will still be their.

What additional programs are you interested in? XP, the OS, does not offer
any application software such as Word or Excel. These are purchased either
separately or in a package called Microsoft Office. Office is in current
version XP also.

The only difference between Windows XP Home and Pro is that Pro will handle
5 more computers networked to it, has better file security, and can log onto
a domain.

It's very easy, but what "programs" are you talking about? If
you're looking for things like Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., you
need to be aware that neither XP Home nor Professional (nor any
other version of Windows) has ever come with these, or with any
other significant application software.

XP Professional and XP Home are exactly the same in all respects,
except that Professional has a few features (mostly related to
networking and security) missing from Home. For most (but not
all) home users, these features aren't needed, would never be
used, and buying Professional instead of Home is a waste of
money.

Also note that Professional allows ten concurrent network
connections, and Home only five.
