Software problems after "critical updates" installed!

Every time I let Microsoft update my PC with some "critical update" or
another some other bit of software on my computer fails to work properly!

The latest problem now is with Symantec's "Password Manager 2004". Right
after I received an automatic "critical update" from Microsoft a couple
months ago Password Manager has been working sporadically or not at all.
Sometimes it will fill in the blanks (in Internet Explorer) the first time
but most of the time now it takes many attempts at loading and unloading
I.E. before PM will "kick in" and do it's thing! It worked fine before the
Windows update.

The problem is that I don't know who to turn to! Symantec (like most big
companies) does not respond to me (surprise?) so... Does anyone else know
about this problem or have any clue as to why this is happening? In the past
updates from Microsoft have caused other programs to fail or work
improperly. Eventually, sometimes many months later, I will either solve the
problem or get rid of the software (or rarely the problem just goes away!?).
If anyone has heard of such a problem and knows what is causing it I would
be very grateful!

Thanks muchly,

Hi Muchly,
Many, many so called critical updates from MS seem to be geared toward an
office enviroment, I install updates manualy and read the tech specs of each
one, I have seen wording such as "this exploit may cause an attacker to take
over your system, bla,bla,bla..." but if you read the mitigating factors
many will say that an attacker will need physical access to your
computer, meaning that they need their hands on your keyboard and cannot
exploit this remotely, since it is just me and my wife using this computer I
don't install those, less of a chance of screwing things up.
If you know what update is was I suggest that you read the details of the
update and if you find that you really don't need it then uninstall it.

P.S. I grew up in Simi Valley :)

Good Luck!
