Software installations hang

Hi, just wondering if anybody has come across this. No matter what software
I try to install, it gets to the Installation Status window & hangs at some
point & I can't complete any of my installations. I have tried disabling AV,
anti-spyware but nothing seems to work. Any information would be greatly
appreciated. I'm running WinXP SP2, Norton Internet Security 2006 and
Microsoft anti-spyware. Thanks.

Windows Installer creates entries in the Windows event log. To view the
log, do the following:

1.Open Event Viewer.

2.Review the application log for Windows Installer entries.

Disable NIS and retry.
